To our Rockfish community — our followers, guests, suppliers, friends and family,
It is with deep sadness that we are writing to you today. Over recent months, we have been forcibly excluded from the business we built — Rockfish at The Uluwatu — and we are no longer involved in its operation in any capacity.
Our vision was always straightforward: a world-class venue, exceptional food, happy guests, and meaningful support for our hardworking staff and the local community around us. That vision was ours, and we are proud of what we created together with all of you.
We have been locked out of and denied access to the business and its assets. Certain intellectual property associated with Rockfish — including copyright — has been dealt with in a manner we dispute. Legal proceedings are on foot and ongoing. We are not in a position to disclose the details of those proceedings, but we want to be clear: we are actively pursuing our legal rights and remedies, and we intend to see this through.
Throughout the past eighteen months, we honoured every obligation we were responsible for — to our staff, to our event commitments, and to our partners. That record stands, and we are proud of it.
We cannot, in good conscience, remain associated — even by implication — with a business over which we have no control, no oversight, and no involvement. We have no knowledge of how the business is currently being operated, and we are not responsible for its conduct. This statement is made to protect our community, to set the record straight, and to make clear where our involvement begins and ends.
As foreigners pursuing legal remedy in Indonesia, we are under no illusion about the challenges ahead. But we believe in a just outcome, and we will continue to pursue one.
We are sorry — deeply sorry — that what we built together has been taken from us in this way. We hope that one day the Rockfish story can continue, in the right hands and on the right terms.
With love and gratitude to everyone who was part of it.
